Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
🎙️ In this episode of Dai At Night, I talk about why the New York Knicks lost their Madison Square Garden debut for the NBA Finals, and predict that the San Antonio Spurs will win the series in Game 7.
I also discuss the impact that Druski had on Washington D.C. this past weekend, both good and bad, from his "Coulda Been Records" auditions.
Finally, I discuss the difficulties of a man "trying to relax" in today's society when he's not where he wants to be in life.

What's going on, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and welcome to Day at Night. I'm your host, Day with an I, not a Y. People ask me often, but I tell them, please don't ask why. In tonight's episode of Day at Night, I have a good one for y'all. We got a lot to talk about. We lot, we have a lot to catch up on. I hope y'all's weekend was good. Um, if you're a New York Knicks fan, hey, listen, I you know, I get it. Y'all swept the Sixers and y'all swept the Cavs, but this is the finals. This is the Creme de la Creme. There's no sweeping going on in the finals, especially not against the San Antonio Spurs. Like, come on now. They got one of the greatest players in the league today in Victor Alien Wimbenna. Not only that, like it's it's you know, and and yeah, we're gonna start there before we get into the the meat and potato of this episode. You know, Spurs started out 0-2. Easily could have been one and one if not for a costly mistake by Wemby at the end of game two, where he passed at the Cassell Castle. I met as he's running when he's not looking. And then he missed the jumper at the end to win it. Okay, cool. You're 0-2. You're going to the garden. Knicks are up too. I mean, you would have sworn that the Knicks won the finals by the way that the New York Knicks fan base and crowd were acting. I mean, even at the game, look at the game that just happened. I've never seen now the Garden is known for hosting celebrities. I don't think I've ever seen this much star power at Madison Square Garden for a basketball game in my life that I can remember. I mean, you had the president there, you had all types of actors, and of course, you got the regular Degglers like Ben Stiller and Spike Lee, but you know, you had Joey uh Fat Joe, Joey Crack next to Khaled on the side. I mean, every time they showed someone, you got Cardi B performing at halftime. I mean, you would have sworn that that was game four and the Knicks were up three, by the way that New York was reacting and the amount of people that were at the game. Listen, you still got to play the game at the end of the day. You still have to win four games at the end of the day. 2-0 ain't shit. Need I remind you of what LeBron James did when he was down 3-1. That was one of the greatest displays of resilience in an NBA finals I've ever seen in my life. Ever since I saw that, I said anything is possible in the finals. So if you've been keeping up with me from day one of the NBA playoffs, I predicted the San Antonio Spurs to win it. And I'm still sticking true to my guns. It's 2-1. It's about to be 2-2. They're about to take two L's in the garden. They're about to go back to San Antonio. My prediction is Spurs and seven. I mean, it's only right. This has been a great playoff series, especially in the West. East has kind of been a, you know, Spurs has been running through shit. But um, the West, especially, it's it's it's been terrific games. The Thunder series was amazing. So it's like, why stop there? Listen, ain't no sweeping going on. It's the Spurs, baby. You see the jacket? Spurs and seven. Like, it's it's come on, man. You still have to play the game at the end of the day. So, great game. Wimby had over 30, I believe. And I ain't gonna lie, I even came out of retirement for FanDuel just to place a quick little $10 whatever. I didn't even make the parlay. It was one of those parlays that come pre-picked and you say, Yeah, I want this. I chose it. It was like a seven-legg parlay. Everything hit except for Shamet, Shamed, Shamet to score 10 points. He had three. And I mean, he looks like the type of dude you don't even bet on. So that was my mistake for doing it. But deleting the app, going back into retirement, done with FanDuel, Spurs in seven. Great game. They took the game this week or this this round. Next game they're gonna win again. So it's gonna be two and two. They're gonna go back to San Antonio, and who knows what's gonna happen there. But I just know that it's gonna go to game seven. It's gonna end in San Antonio with the Spurs winning game seven. Mark my words. I mean, damn, you would have sworn New York won the freaking finals the way they've been acting over these past few days. And I'm gonna also say this I don't want the new, I don't want Knicks to win also because I just don't want the Knicks to win. I don't want New York feeling that good about winning the championship. I'm sorry. As much as a hater I may sound like, perfectly fine with that. I lived in New York. Went to school, went to college in New York. I have family from New York. I love New York City. I think it's the greatest city. I think it's I think it's the greatest city in America. It's one of the first like cities that I truly fell in love with the first time I went. I mean, it was I never seen anything like it. It was one of the greatest experiences and revelations, if you would, when I visited New York City for the first time ever since then. I've been in love with it. I love New York City. I love New York food. I love New York women. I love just the vibe. I love the public transportation and the walkability of New York City. I love New York City. But with all that being said, I don't want to deal with the arrogance of New York Knicks fans winning the finals for the first time since the 70s. I don't I don't want to deal with it. I don't. I'm not even gonna lie to you, I don't. I mean, but also I would I've been rooting for the Spurs since day one of the playoffs this year. But I don't I don't want New York to win. I don't. I don't. They're already enough as it is. You know what I mean? They're already enough as it is. They're already doing too much as it is. They're ripping Spurs jerseys off of people that wear a Spurs jersey at the garden and stomping on it. They're already heckling the head coach for the Spurs as he's walking through Manhattan with his family uh prior to game three. Like, no, no, nah, nah, nah. Wish them the best of luck, but no. And they got to win the game at the end of the day. So they're already turning up and celebrating like they won. If you show San Antonio right now, they ain't in the streets acting crazy after winning a game. They do this every year. The New York Knicks fans do this every year. They wanna eat, they win the Eastern Conference Finals game, not the series. They win a game and they go crazy in New York. Okay, y'all won two games. You have to win four. LeBron being down 3-1 showed us that. Hey, listen, 2-0, nothing. 2-1, checkball, Spurs in seven. All right, so like I said, hope y'all's weekend was good. My weekend was decent. I tried to make this a wellness weekend, especially after pulling my hamstring on Saturday while working out at the track. And I know what you're thinking, damn, you're getting old. No, I mean, that may have a pinch to do with it, but I just be doing too much. That's my problem. I do way too much. Anytime I get injured from working out, I do too much. Like, just to give you a quick rundown. On Mondays, I do legs, I squat, and I squat heavy. On Thursday, I do hill sprints up a steep hill, 10 sprints, and then I superset each sprint with 10 squats, air squats. So I do 100 squats, 10 sprints. Then Saturday, I go to a track, I run a mile, then I run, I run a mile, then I run gassers. I should just leave it alone at the mile, right? So I do my mile, great time, six minutes, 30 seconds. And my body's a little tired, but I'm like, okay, I want to do some gassers. I do 100-yard gassers, down is one, I do eight total, right? And I'm timing myself as far as breaks in between. With my gassers, you stride it out. So I'm opening up my stride and my hamstrings are tight. Now rewind. I pulled, pulled my right hamstring three years ago, four years ago, because it was I was in my first apartment out here in Charlotte. About three and a half, four years ago, right? Like I pulled it, pulled it. Like I heard and felt it pop because I was racing Desi. For those who don't know, Desi is my lovely female canine companion, English Bull Terrier to be exact, as far as the breed. And we're racing. I'm racing Desi, and it's the last one. And she gets out on me. I was like, oh, you got me fucked up. So I'm uh and I'm going 100%. I'm opening up my stride and everything. Mind you, I lifted the day before. So my legs are already tight. Pow! I felt and heard a pop, and I just fell to the ground. I felt like Ricky when he got shot. Like I jumped up on one leg, fell to the ground. Desi's coming up to me, looking at me like I'm crazy, not knowing what's going on. And that thing, bro, that ham, my right hamstring took me about two, three years to get back good. Like, no funny. So I pulled it, pulled it before. Now on Saturday, it was the second to last sprint. I'm opening up. It wasn't a pop, it was a very hard switch. So I knew I fucked up, but I knew instantly it wasn't as bad as the right hamstring that I messed up a couple years back. Because I was still able to walk. It hurt. And to leave the track, you have to go up a hill. It hurt going up the hill. It kind of hurt. It's my left one. So I drive a stick shift. So I'm like, damn, am I going to be able to drive? Clutching and everything. I was decent. I got home. I was, I was, I was limping for the first day. So I just rested. I iced rested. Today's Monday, Monday night, two days removed. And I know for a fact I'm gonna be I'm gonna be back in a week. So I actually woke up this morning and was like, thank you, God, for it being as slight as it is. Because I I've been through the trenches as far as a real hamstring pull, borderline tear. I've been through it. So I thought, oh, this is nothing. A week and I'll be back. No biggie. No biggie. And so I'm like, okay, let me just chill out. So Sunday, I did something for the first time ever. I got a massage, a professional massage by a true massage therapist. Because Sunday I'm like, okay, I'm not working out, obviously. I'm chilling. And my friend, shout out Megan, she has extra massage credits that she has to use within a certain amount of days. And she asked if I want to get one. I was like, sure. Never had one before, let's do it. Sure. And on top of that, I took Desi to the groomer. So that so Sunday was just a wellness day in the day-by-day household. Desi was at the groomer. I was at the massage joint and I got a massage. And that was that was an experience. That was quite an experience. Again, it was my first one. So, you know, the lady, she's talking to me. We're in the room. She's telling me how it goes down. She's like, yeah, so but so you can either be fully nude or in your underwear. I ain't know that. I thought you like get a massage like in your drawers or you keep your shorts on. So me, I kept my drawers on. I ain't gonna lie. I stripped down to my underwear. I listen, I'm not a I'm not a $20 hoe. You gotta warm me up. You know what I mean? Like, I'm not just gonna go first time ever, just straight bucket naked. I got in my drawers. Now the next time, we'll we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I'm I I got I got more comfortable as the time went with it. It was my first time. I was like, let me be in my drawers. We'll see what happens the next time. But nonetheless, it felt good. It was an hour long, Swedish. It wasn't, you know, deep tissue or anything like that. Very relaxing. The young lady, Adria, I believe was her name, very nice, very dope. I'm not gonna tell y'all the exact location because I don't I don't know what's on your agenda. But yeah, very, very nice lady, very dope. Um me, I'm a I'm a talker. You know what I mean? Like I'm a I'm a talkative person. That's why I do podcasts, that's why I interview people. So during the massage, like I'm talking to her, like I'm cracking, not cracking jokes, I'm just being myself and she's laughing, giggling a lot. I don't know if that's because like, you know, like she was trying to butter me up or like I really am, you know, that funny. I mean, I'm I know I'm somewhat humorous, but anyway, so during the massage, I asked her, I was like, um, how long have you been a masseuse? And she was like, Well, I've been a massage therapist for the dah-da-da. I was like, oh, is it like what's the difference between masseuse and massage therapists again? I don't know. Only thing I know about massages are NFL players that turn them into freak-offs and movies. And she's like, Well, masseuses are usually it's usually a cover-up for sex workers, and they use the massages as cover-ups. I was like, oh, okay, well. She's like, I'm a massage massage therapist. I was like, okay, got it. Now I understand. Like, how long have you been a massage therapist? And we got into it. I apologize if I offended her, you know, all that good stuff. She was cool about it. And yeah, so very relaxing. The table is warm. You're in your drawers. I can only imagine being naked, and it's full body. So you lay on your back at one point, then you lay on your chest. Well, you start off laying on your chest, then you turn around and lay on your back. So it's full body. The thing is warm, it's dark, it's eucalyptus scent, aroma. It's no music playing, so it's just breathing. And it's it's intimate. I'm not gonna lie, it's intimate. So like I'm not saying that like I agree with some of the acts that these football players do, but I understand. Not not the not the Deshaun Watson part. No, I'm talking about like it's like a known thing that like football players get freaky with massage therapists, and I can completely see why. Now, me, I didn't like arouse or bone up or anything. Like I played it cool. It and I ain't gonna lie, in the beginning I had to tell myself, like, yo, chill. Like, don't even, don't even, don't even, don't even, don't even. You know what I mean? And that's why I was in my drawers. It was my first time I know what to expect. If I was raw, I might have. Unintentionally. I was like, yo, don't even, don't even think about it. Just chill. You don't need to cause any speculations, get no case. Like, I don't even want to be on some, well, I wonder if chill. No. Because I mean, I don't know, maybe. I uh listen, I got, I got friends and I'm not gonna say that. Fuck it, I'll say it. I got friends and family members or a family member that, like, yo, they, they've they've they've gotten a jerk and squirt from a massage therapist before. I just, I just, you know, that was my first time ever. I just, I can't see myself doing that. But they say never say never. But anyway, massage was very relaxing. Uh um afterwards, I'm like, you know what, I still want this to be a wellness day. But here's the dilemma with that, as far as a wellness day for me. I have a very hard time relaxing. And I even told the massage therapist that I'm like, I have a hard time relaxing. Like, can you tell? She's like, yes, like you're very tense. I was like, okay, yeah, I get it. And yeah, I just have a very hard time relaxing. I think this is great to talk about, especially with it being men's mental health awareness month, the month of June. Um yeah, so I'm like, yeah, have a hard time relaxing. And the reason why I have such a hard time relaxing is because I'm for those who don't know, I'm 31 years old. And I'm not where I envision myself to be, let's say at 21, uh, currently at 31. Granted, I'm further than where I could be. I'm further, like I'm I'm not in the pits, but I I mean, if you ask me, I haven't done shit. So I'm trying to do shit. I'm trying to accomplish something. And, you know, as a man, all we see is grind, work. Like that's all we hear. Like, listen, if you want to get to it, you gotta grind, you gotta work. Only time I really hear like the wellness day approach and kind of like going like at things soft is like women. Like women I know are the only people I talk to that bring up, they do wellness days and and relaxing days. And I've just never I I can't do it, especially now. Like I've I'm not saying like I've I've had days where I just completely did nothing, but I've had days where, you know, like I I did close to nothing or I went out and turned up and came home but didn't do any work. And I'm like, okay, I've been doing that for too long. It obviously hasn't gotten me anywhere. It's like the past like couple years, I've just been, yo, I got to grind, I gotta get to it, I gotta make something happen. And I haven't done it yet. I haven't done anything yet. Like, I mean, yeah, cool, I have a podcast, but I'm not a podcaster. This isn't my profession. I don't get paid for this. And people be surprised, they'd be like, you work a full-time job, you don't get paid for podcasting. No. That's what I'm saying, I haven't done anything. So like people see videos, okay, cool. I make videos, I do podcasts, I have a couple interviews, but I haven't done shit. I'm I I still work a full-time job and work and live check to check. Like I haven't done shit. So because of that, and because I'm trying to juggle two things between a full-time job and trying to build this brand of mine, it's like I feel like if I take a day off, then I'm behind the curb. But in the same time, yes, I've had times where I've pushed myself to the point where I'm burnt out. So I'd be like, maybe I could use some relaxation. So anyway, I just said all that to provide some context. I have a very hard time relaxing. This is how much of a hard time I have relaxing. So I just recently had surgery for my deviated septum. If you don't know, I had two tubes put up my nose for a whole week. So right after the surgery, as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia, like, you know, I'm it's everything's the procedure's already done. I'm waking up. The first thing I tried to do was get up and walk. And the nurses had to restrain me and put me down, like, relax, relax, relax. I don't know how to relax. I have a hard time relaxing. You know what I mean? Because I'm trying to do something that I haven't done. I see it, but it's not physically attainable, and I just don't think I can get to it by relaxing. So I have a hard time relaxing. I haven't done shit. So I'll say that to say, after that, after my massage, I was very relaxed physically. Um, I didn't do any work as far as the brand on Sunday, as far as editing, setting things up, replying to whatever. Any, I didn't do anything. So I'm like, okay. After the massage, I took a nap because my body was, I took like a two-hour nap, woke up at like 8 30 o'clock, 8 30, 8 30 p.m. I say 8 30 o'clock. 8 30 p.m. I said, you know what? I'm gonna go back to sleep. I'm gonna just use this day to relax. I'm gonna go back to sleep and wake up at like four in the morning. But again, my dilemma. I can't relax. So I stayed in bed for about 30 minutes, couldn't go back to sleep because I'm thinking like, damn, I gotta do something. So I got up. I woke up and straightened up the house. I can't perform in like a cluster. Straightened up the house, clean up the house, got a little bit of work done, really just organized for the next day and for the for um today, which was Monday. So I organized for today and yeah. And it also hit me as far as like not relaxing. I've just been in grind mode. I'm like, I haven't got I I don't get out anymore neither. Sometimes I do, like if I go on a date or that's it. If I'm hanging out with with a chick, then I'll, you know, I'm saying step out of the crib, but I barely do that. Like, you know, I'm I I got a friend now, but you know, we only see each other sometimes because of both of our schedules. You know what I'm saying? And and every hand I'll step out and you know I'm saying have a date like with another chick, but it's usually like if it's you know someone I know that's in town or something like that. So I'm like, damn, I don't step out neither. So Charlotte this past weekend has something called The Taste of Charlotte, which is like a I guess you can call it a food festival. It's a lot of food vendors, and you know, you can get like sample size of different spots, and they have a token system where you have to buy tokens to get to it. Now, I haven't been to Taste of Charlotte in a couple years. The last time I went was when they were at the Charlotte Knights baseball stadium. I think that was like maybe what, three years ago? That was the last time I went. And ever since then, I'm like, I gotta get back to it. I didn't make it this time. Saturday, I had studio rentals for my podcast studio all day. And then Sunday, uh, I had to clean up, take Desi to the vet, and then, you know, go for my massage uh appointment. So by the time all that was done and I got home and unsettled and everything, it was it was too late. They closed at six on Sunday. So I missed my opportunity. And I was like, damn. I was I started to think like, yo, I haven't gotten out in a minute. I haven't gotten out in a minute. But real quick, for taste of Charlotte, I saw a lot of mixed reviews. Long story short, a lot of people said it was expensive and it was hot. I do remember it being expensive last time I go. You have to buy tokens and the tokens get you your stuff, but like you like everything's expensive and the lines and the lines were long. I wouldn't have gone for like the food. I would have ate before, I maybe would have got one thing, but I just would have gone to like catch a vibe. Like anytime something's happening in uptown Charlotte, it's a vibe. Like, uh, I know they usually have like some type of like Latina festival type block party type thing in uptown. I definitely look forward to that. Because it'd be food, it'd be music, and it'd be mama seatas. So anytime something like that's going on uptown in Charlotte, it's a great time. Just in general, I tell people that like Charlotte, whenever someone hits me up that wants to visit Charlotte, I say come when it's warm out. So I say anytime from like May to like August, September, anytime in that window is the perfect time to visit Charlotte because it is a very outdoor catering city. I say that. It's a very outdoor space, Charlotte is. So I always recommend people to visit when it's nice out because you'll you'll catch a vibe outside very easily in Charlotte. It's a great city. Great city. But yeah, then they make it a taste of Charlotte. And I'm like, damn, I haven't gotten out the house lately. But this is what I asked for. I was like, okay, because I've gotten out before. When I first hit Charlotte, when I first moved to Charlotte in 2021 at 25 years old, I was in the streets for like a good. Two, maybe three years heavy. I was in the streets. But then recently I'm like, okay, I gotta get on my grind again. Like I said, I'm living check to check. I rent out my podcast studio, which does bring in, you know, some some decent extra money, but that just goes right back into the brand, whether it's to the podcast studio, buying equipment or whatever, or if I'm doing something and I need a videographer, like that money mostly goes right back into the brand. I invested right back into the business. So I asked for this. I'm like, I want to be busy. I want to grind on weekends because I know that will catapult, that will be, it will provide a better chance of catapulting me to where I want to get. You heard the stories about people that say, you know, I had to sacrifice, um, is that the right word? Yeah, I had to sacrifice my, I had to sacrifice my fun weekends, you know. Like it'd been weekends where, you know, your friends will hit you up to go out and be like, nah, I'm in a, I'm in a lab, I'm grinding. Plenty of those. A lot of those, most of those, the weekends over the past year or so has been just that. Like I just, I just be locked in. Like every here and there I'll escape. Like I said, if I'm, you know, hanging out with a young lady, or if it's just one of those weekends, every blue moon, where I'm like, yo, I just have to release. Like how Dennis Robin used to do when he would just go to Vegas, like in the middle of a basketball season just to let it out. Sometimes I would do that. Um, actually, I have one coming up the weekend of Juneteenth, going to Lake Norman for like a boat thing. So every here and there I need that, but I'm like, I need to get out more. And I'm gonna do that. But I I I I gotta find a balance. I don't even want to say balance because it's gonna be more so still grinding on weekends, but I do want to get out more. Because I'm like, okay, I did stop. I used to get out a lot in Charlotte and meet people. I don't meet as much people as I used to because I don't get out as much and I don't catch the vibes as much. Like, I want to get back to that. Not even necessarily saying I want to party. Like, I don't have to get drunk to step out and do something in the city, but I definitely want to start stepping out more and you know, uh taking advantage of opportunities more to meet people and network with people more and just do more throughout Charlotte instead of just being in here. But I don't want to call it balance because it's not gonna be 50-50 because I'm gonna still grind, but I do want to get out. I do want to get out. So yeah. All right. So speaking of getting out in Charlotte this past weekend, um, another thing, another big thing that happened, not necessarily in Charlotte, but in the DMV area, more specifically in DC, Drewski held his could have been record audition in DC. And it stirred quite controversy. It stirred quite uh a reaction as far as people showing up. Everyone was saying how hot it was. It was between like 90 to 95 degrees out, and people were waiting out in the sun for hours to go onto the show. If you don't know what it is, could have been records is a fake record label that Drewski has. But what he does is he goes to different cities and he has auditions for people to come on and he'll sign them. A lot of people are calling it like a humiliation ritual because people typically go on there to get roasted or do something dumb, and that's how he signs them. Or if you're a chick and you look good, then he signs you like that. But it's not necessarily like American Idol, where if you legitimately have talent, he'll sign you. And to get signed means you're gonna come on to the TV show that he has or YouTube series show that he has. So he had his auditions in DC and he put it out the day before that he was gonna be in DC. And, you know, a lot of people were happy about it, and a lot of people showed up. Now, with that being said, it also a lot of people in the DC DMV area had something to say about other people showing up to the Could've Been Records audition. Pretty much saying you're showing up for humiliation ritual, saying that, you know, you're you're you're chasing or you're you're you're meat riding, if you're standing in line, waiting hours just to, you know, get clowned for 15 seconds by Drewski. Like a lot of people saying, like, pretty much like downplaying, like if you're going there just for the hell of it, then you're a clown. Like people don't even collaborate within the city when there's something going on with the city hell, but you got an out-of-towner showing up and everyone goes crazy. So a lot of people were down in him. And I could see both sides. Because here's my take on the could have been auditions. Because I truly believe at some point he's gonna show up to Charlotte, but we'll get to that. I think that if you are a content creator, a music artist, someone in the media space in any way, shape, or form, and you have a solid uh foundation of your brand, of your content, of what you do, you have a solid base, and you even have a solid plan, then I think there could have been a great opportunity for exposure. And even someone specifically from the DMV area, well, Baltimore, I know Baltimore don't like to say DMV, but when he was in Baltimore, it was an artist that showed up to the auditions. I don't know his name, but he's a male rapper, and he has a very unique lingo and language when he raps. Ugin, boogan, rugen, hoogan, tagin, bogger. If y'all know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about. I forgot his name, but he's from Baltimore and he and he talks in like a whole different language when he raps. And Drewski found it fascinating and invited him to the show, and he was on the actual Could've Been Records show and got great exposure. And the same artist, it was either right before Could've Been or right after it could have been. I saw him on a freestyle with the floaters. And the floater shout out to Dev. Floaters, let me just say this real quick, man. It's some dope creators and and stuff going on back. I'm from the DM, I'm from Maryland, and there's some dope stuff going on back home. And I be thinking, like, yo, will I move back home soon? Like, I'm I Charlotte's calling my name. I'm staying in Charlotte, but I it does, you know, cross my mind, like, yo, if I go back home, I know I would kill it. Because I it's so many people that I'm plugged in with that are doing big shit, and I know I could just hit the ground running. But anyway, the floaters, it's a like meet, it's a it's a music uh uh platform in Baltimore. And I saw him on there. It was either, I think it was right before I saw him on the floor that was doing the freestyle. I was like, yo, what the fuck? What is he saying? And then the next thing you know, he's on Could've Been Records. And he, you know, Drew, he's shown on the audition. He does good, and Drewski invites him to the show, and he does good on the show, and he got great exposure from it, but he wasn't a clown. He didn't go on there and do the typical clown shit. He didn't get clowned by Drewski. Um, for what I could tell, he's a probably a solid dude. And he got, excuse me, he got good exposure from it and he took advantage of it. I think that's a great case in point. If you go now, if you're going up there with a good plan and you have something worth substance, and you can take advantage of the exposure, then I think it's a great ordeal to go on could have been records. But like many people were saying uh uh when Drewski came to the DMV, if you're going there just to get humiliated just for humiliation ritual, then I don't think it's the best. But still, even still, I wouldn't get I wouldn't give a damn. Like, I wouldn't care if you're doing that. Would I do it? No. But if you're doing it, so what? Like, do your thing, cool. Not everyone performs at the same frequency, but it wasn't it wouldn't stop me from doing what I gotta do. And one person in particular that went to the auditions, I don't know how he did, I don't know what he did. Hopefully he does good and he actually makes something of it. Andy, Andy the comedian, Andy the boss, I think he has like a whole bunch of aliases. But Andy, a good friend of mine, a supporter of the show, someone who was actually on the show about two years ago, we we did the interview and it went great. Great interview, DC versus Maryland. If you didn't check it out, make sure that you checked it out. Um, great interview, had a lot of engaging clips. The interview was very engaging. I think we had either one or two uh clips that hit a million views, the one where he was talking about his one night stand at MK Lounge on U Street out in DC. And um, yeah, so Andy, I already knew he was gonna be at the auditions. It's DC, he's from DC. It's you know, could have been, it's I'm pretty sure he went to the one in Baltimore. So I just knew he was gonna go. And Andy caught a lot of indirect shots saying because he posted on his IG that he took a picture with Drewski, and you know, it was at nighttime. Now I'm pretty sure the Drewski thing started in the morning. Andy took a picture with him at night. It was like, yo, I've been waiting all night. Can we get a pick? And he got a pick with Drewski. Cool. That's you can tell he actually enjoyed the picture. Like, because you could just tell from the look on Andy's face. And a lot of people in the comments clowning him, like, yo, you waited all night for Drewski. Da-da-da. That's weak. Um, you know, people were clowning him. I'll say this first and foremost about that. About about Andy waiting all night for a picture with Drewski. We hear stories all the time about how uh uh rappers that were trying to come up waited outside of a rapper's tour bus for hours just to get an opportunity to say, yo, I rap, or kick like a 20-second freestyle or give them their demo. Lil Snoop, R.I.P. How him and Meek met, he waited for hours outside of Meek's tour bus and like just tossed him a demo or whatever, or started freestyle, one of the two, and that's how he got put on. So we don't know what can come from that picture that he took with Drewski. We don't know, because okay, maybe let's say Andy auditioned and he did good, but Drewski maybe was on the border as far as whether, you know what I'm saying, okay, even if he doesn't sign him, if he's gonna put him on his YouTube video for the DC, could have been auditions. Maybe he's like, damn, that's the same dude that had the auditions I was kind of hesitant about, but he waited all night, took the picture with me, had good energy. You know what? Yeah, even if he doesn't get signed, make sure that his audition gets shown on YouTube. That could come from it. And all it takes is one thing in this content space to take you to the next level. That's all it takes is one thing. Now, Andy already has motion, especially a background away, but he even has like national motion. He's had some reels that have done very good nationally with all types of celebrities commenting on it and stuff like that. But we don't know what that one picture would do. Now, I'll say this about Andy, which is another reason why I'm pretty sure he caught slap and people, you know, clown him. Andy does controversial content. He does content that most of which I wouldn't do. Like he has one con he has one video that's very popular where he was pretending to be a man's meat, and he was like peeing, like spitting the water from his mouth, and the dude was like, I'm pretty sure y'all saw that. Would I do that? Absolutely not. It's another video with him uh uh um smashing a car window, not smashing like hulk smash, I mean cranking, like humping. Because the thing was like when you ask your homeboy to crack the window, and he's like, actually, so Andy has done some very skeptical reels, skits, videos, whatever you want to call it, that I would not do because that's just not my thing. Not my thing. But he's in his own lane. That's what he likes to do, do it. I wish I I hope that you know everything went well with him at the auditions. If he didn't get signed, I hope at least his video gets shown on the YouTube auditions for DC for could have been records. But even if it doesn't, I'm pretty sure he's going to keep going and keep going until he, you know what I mean? So I just say all that to say a lot of people were clowning people that were waiting for the could have been record auditions in DC. If you have a solid plan, I think it's a great opportunity if the exposure hits. Now, what you do with that exposure is very vital because some people have nothing to show for what they have going on. They don't even have anything going on. They just want to go just to say, Ma, look, I'm on YouTube and get clowned and get tossed out the thing, but they really have not. Now, those are the people, I mean, what are you doing? I mean, that's your thing, but what are you doing? You know what I mean? Like, even if you get some exposure, then people go, like, people will follow you for what? Oh, he was on a Drewski thing, that'll last about a week and then it's fly by night. But if you actually have a foundation and something that people can look at, if you have something that is worth people looking at and you get exposure from that, then that's the that's the key. If you have a catalog, that's the word, catalog. If you have a catalog that once you get exposed, people can go and look at, then that's what you want. Like the rapper from Baltimore, he has a catalog. So when people actually, he gets the exposure and people actually go look at him, they're intrigued. They actually have something to look at more of instead of just one thing. They can actually follow up and go back to his catalog dating back years, be like, Dad, this is actually a dope person. If I were to have, I'm not doing it, it's not really my speed, but if I were to have done the could have been auditions, if people go back and look at my page, I have years worth of content that they can binge on. And if it's entertaining enough and the right person sees it, a sponsor, a brand, a business, a person of influence, if the right person or brand or business sees it enough of what I have, then they'd be like, okay, this person has a catalog, it's consistent, so he do, he's he's doing something, he has a podcast that's still going. You know what? I want to partner with this person. Then that's one of the best things that can happen to you. It only takes one thing. But if you're going just to go, just to say, I want to get some 15 seconds of fame, then I mean that's pointless. The 15 seconds of fame shit, it it never works out. Like, just think of all the people that have 15 seconds of fame. What do they get from it besides 15 seconds of fame? Nothing. But you have people that utilized and took advantage of that 15 seconds of fame because they got the exposure. They got eyes drawn to them and their brand and their catalog, and they use that to catapult them. That's the difference. If you're going for that, that's the difference. Now, with all that being said, I'm pretty sure that Drewski's could have been record audition. At some point, we'll go to we'll come to Charlotte, North Carolina. I mean, Charlotte's one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. It's a very diverse city, has people from all over the north and the south, even the west coast are starting to trickle in. It's a lot of talent out here in Charlotte. Don't be fooled. There is a lot of talent out here. So I'm willing to bet that within the next year he'll be stopping by Charlotte. Now, my question for the people of Charlotte, whether you're a natural-born Charlatan or you're a migrant, would you go to the Could have Been Records Charlotte audition? And if so, what for? What would you do? What would you try to gain from it? Like what would you just go just to try to clown on Drewski for 10 seconds? Would you go just to wait hours just to clown on Drewski for a couple seconds and get tossed out and not even make it to the YouTube video? Or would you actually go to try to take advantage of possible exposure to your brand, to your business, to your catalog, to your talent, to whatever it is you do? I'm curious, would y'all go? Me? I I don't think I would go just because I mean I don't sing, like, I mean, I think I'm somewhat funny, but I wouldn't go to like clown on them and like you know try to like roast them or nothing like that. Um, I don't know. I I don't think I would go to audition. Now, this might be some free game, but I would go to the audition to game, like to network with people that are actually waiting in line. I wouldn't wait in line and like go inside, but I would go outside because it's gonna be a mass crowd. I would network with people, I might do some on-the-spot street interviews, I might, you know what I'm saying, go smack at a joint or two. I might do stuff like that, but I don't think I me personally, I don't think I would actually go to like audition. That's I I just can't see, I don't know what I would do. I I I can't see that's not my that's not my speed. That's not my speed. I would try to gain some people to come onto the podcast. I would try to get people like, yo, well, what do you do? Okay, that's dope. I have a podcast. You want to come for an interview? I would do something like that. I would utilize it in that space, but I wouldn't actually audition myself. That's just not my speed. But I think that if I were if I would to have audition, then it would be good exposure to bring back to my brand because I have a foundation. But if you're going just to go, just to say I went just to get tossed out, just to not I I don't think that's smart. But again, it's your life. Do whatever the fuck you want to do. I don't care. I just want to do it. I just want to do it. But I want to know, Charlotte, would y'all go to the could have been auditions once he comes to Charlotte? I'm intrigued. I'm legitimately intrigued. And you know, I I'll say this about Charlotte. Because like I said, I do sometimes be like, yo, like, okay, my lease is up, just to be completely transparent. My lease is up in on April 20th, 2027. That's when my lease is up. I've been in this apartment for two years going on three. I'm not doing four. After this lease is up, I already told myself I'm gone. Now it's gonna, as far as gone, it's gonna be one of a few things. Either one, if I do stay in Charlotte, I'm either purchasing a house, which is always the number one goal, but you know, I gotta get my chicken up. That's why I'm doing this right now. Or I would move into like a high rise in uptown, in downtown, uptown, we call it uptown in Charlotte. Charlotte. I would move it to a high rise just because that's something I've I've just I I love scenery, I love the city life. Like I said, I lived in New York. I'm I'm big on like city. That's me. I'm not country, I'm city. I prefer city, and I love views. I love nighttime views, and I just want to be able to like walk into my crib and like get that city view from a tall, I love natural light and I love being high. Like I'm on the top floor of my building right now. I love being high. You know what I'm saying? My spirit animals are bald eagle because they they high and they just look down, not just because I'm bald, but anyway, either buying a house, a high rise, or leaving Charlotte. Now, if I leave Charlotte, as of now, the only options that make sense to me that I've been, you know what I'm saying, debating on is either going back home to the DMV. I don't want to live in DC. I'll probably move to Laurel, where I'm from, which is uh PG County, which I'm saying is like 15 minutes from DC, or um, yeah, something like that. And I say back home because it's a lot of uh it's a lot of great content creators back home. It's a lot of great people, it's a lot of money, black money specifically, back home in DMV. Like it's it's a lot going on from Baltimore all the way to DC. It's a lot going on. I know people out there. Like I again, like I was saying, I know so many like creators and talent out there. I know I can hit the ground running, but it's home. And the main reason I came out to Charlotte was to not be home, to be uncomfortable, to bring the best out of me. And I think it's been doing just that. Like me and my mom were talking about this. She was like, you know, I uh I was at a I got invited to go to NASCAR for the first time ever a couple weeks ago, and it was such a dope experience. And even um one of the racers, um, we're gonna do an interview soon. And that whole experience was just so dope. And she's like, man, like you know, you you've met like some some great people in Charlotte, you've networked with some great people, you've come across some great opportunities. She's like, I don't think you would have done that as much or to uh uh such a level if you were back home. And I was like, you know, I kind of agree. Even though you might say, oh, you would have had a better chance because you know people, you know how to maneuver, you know how the city works, you know the politics of everything. Yeah, but I'm back home. I'm surrounded by my friends. If I want to just go out, I I know I would go out way more if I was back home. You know what I mean? Like I'd be in DC partying way more. Like I'd be comfortable, I'd be more comfortable. But being uncomfortable in Charlotte has called has forced me to, you know, I'm saying, get out and meet people and and and do certain things and network. And so I have contemplated that, but again, that's only because it's it's so back home is growing in the media and content space. Again, I know I can kill it. And it's not like a uh uh uh like one podcast back home that's like the end all be all. Like there's a couple great ones. Um uh um, but yeah. But anyway, Charlotte, stay Charlotte, go back home, or Atlanta. Now Atlanta's last on the list, and I say that because well, or it might be second, but the reason why I say Atlanta is because similar to back home, I Know a couple like dope people with dope brands in Atlanta. Like very dope. And I I hear great things about Atlanta as far as like a lot of people call it the Black Hollywood or the Black Mecca. I still haven't been. I've been to Atlanta a couple times, but I haven't like really, really, really been. Like I haven't spent a weekend out there and really hit the streets and really find out, you know what I'm saying, first person, uh, first, first person what's going on out there. I'm just going off of what I hear. Also, you know, a possible opportunity. I don't want to, I don't want to speak it into existence. I don't want to jinx it. I'm speaking into existence off camera, but I realize like shit that I've been saying lately, I'll be like, yo, I know it's gonna happen. Like, it hasn't been happening. So I'm not gonna jinx it. But an opportunity might arise in the near future that's based out of Atlanta as far as media. And again, yeah, I it's a lot, it's a lot of great things going on in Atlanta, at least from from what I see from the people I know and what they tell me and what I see them doing and the the community that you know I'm saying that I that I see going on that they receive from other black people in Atlanta. Like I hear great things and but also I I hear it, I don't hear, but I I kind of get the vibe. It might be a little oversaturated, which is why I moved to Charlotte instead of Atlanta in the first place. If you don't know, in 2021, I was contemplating between Atlanta and Charlotte or staying back home. But I ultimately chose Charlotte because Atlanta sounded oversaturated. But nonetheless, this year, one of my goals is to just take weekend trips to Atlanta to uh uh create, you know what I'm saying, like um partnerships with the people that I know. Instead of just full-blown moving, I'm gonna go out there for a few weekends, get a good feel of it, and then assess my decision from there. So I'm not just gonna get up and go. But those are my three choices. Stay in Charlotte, go back home to the DMV area, or move to Atlanta uh come 2027. I have no idea which one I'm gonna do. I know for a fact, like I talk to God heavy, and I know it's gonna, it's it's gonna naturally come as far as which one I should do within the next, let's say, six months. Well, no, it's only June. Yeah, let's say six to fourteen. Because then, you know, that's when I have to know because I have to do that 60-day notice thing. But yeah, in the next six to what did I say, six to fourteen months? I meant six to eight months. In the next six to eight months, I'll have a you know, better feel of which one I'm gonna do. But again, I always say Charlotte is Charlotte called me. Charlotte still is calling me, if you ask me, as far as um needing to be out here, you know, uh, but I have to do way more. I have to do way more. I have to do way more as far as getting out there, uh, putting content out, establishing my brand. I have to do way more. Like I've I've I have a brand. I've like I do content, I have a podcast. Every here and there I'll do a food review. Like I've I have a foundation, but I have to I have to really like stack the stack the buildings. I have to stack, I have to lay the bricks down way more at a higher frequency and way more consistent this year if I really want to make something pop off. Um, but Charlotte is a great spot to do that in. Uh, you know, anytime I do Charlotte-based content, it goes crazy. Um, there's been plenty of times where I've just been out in the streets and people recognize me, like, yo, don't you have a podcast? Or people like, yo, I know you don't know me, but you're like, yo, I really like what you do, what your content, what your podcast is really dope. I get that often when I go out. I'm not going, I'm not saying that to, you know, brag or nothing, and I'm not trying to, you know, be modest, but it's the truth. Like, I get that a lot when I go out. So every time I'm like, damn, am I doing it right? Something like that happens. Um, and also, you know, Charlotte, it's insane how fast Charlotte is growing. And when I first came out here, I said I wanted to be a big fish in a small pond. So I want to grow with the city of Charlotte. I want to be that, that, that content, that podcast that like when people stop by Charlotte, they come onto the podcast. And it's happened multiple times. Uh Niles Nessie from Lean the Cuisine, you know, the peace joint, and who was also at Atlanta FX, he hit me up out the blue nowhere. He was like, yo, I love your podcast. And he's from back home. He's from the DMV. That's how I know of him. I'm like, yo, I appreciate that. If you're ever in Charlotte, you know what I'm saying, stop by, we could do it. He's like, that's crazy because I'm driving. He he's he lives in Florida. He said I'm driving back home for the holidays next week, and I'm driving past North Carolina. I can stop by. I was like, bet, that's how we did the interview. DJ Luke, DJ Luke Nasty. He lives in Houston, but he's from what part of North Carolina is he from? I know he went he went to Winston-Salem, but he's from High Point, North Carolina, which is, you know, right down 85 or right up 85, I should say. And same thing with him. He hit me, it was like, yo, your podcast is dope. I was like, yo, appreciate it. If you ever back home, let me know. Like, I'm gonna be back home this date. Like, bet, let's do it. Got him on a podcast. So that's happened, but I I need to take it up a notch. I need to take it up a notch. I really do. I need to take it up a notch. So that's exactly what I plan to do. Um, at least for the time being that I'm out here. I I I I'm leaning towards staying out here in Charlotte because like I get again, like I said, I feel it's a lot of unfinished business for me personally out here that I gotta take care of. So I personally think I'm gonna stay in Charlotte, but I wouldn't be surprised if I move to Atlanta or go back home. I have no idea. We'll see what happens within the next six to eight months. I know God is gonna, you know what I'm saying. Uh show me what I need to see as far as how my decision is gonna be swayed. And I'll go from there. And I'll go from there, man. But woo! It's day at night, man. It's day at night. I know this episode was a little bit calm compared to previous episodes. I don't want to go too crazy, man. I want to go too crazy. I'm trying to establish Day at Night more as a weekly solo podcast. As you can tell, this isn't live. I used to do day at night live streams, which were decent, which were cool, but I don't know. I just felt like I was podcasting and live streaming, which was the goal. But, you know, like reading comments in the middle of the thing would kind of throw off my flow when I felt like it was dragging it out and logging it and all that good stuff. So this is what I'm trying out. This is what I want to do. Now, I want to say this before we get up out of here. Next week, I have an amazing interview episode dropping next Wednesday. What's today's date? Today's the 9th, or Tuesday's the 9th. So on the 17th, Wednesday, June 17th. Have a great episode uh dropping for y'all. It's June. It's Pride Month. So I have my first gay uh uh guest for the Day by Day podcast. I'm gonna just say that. You don't want to miss it. Wednesday night, it's dropping. Um, but anyway, about to get up out of here, man. About to ice my hamstring, which is nothing. This, I'm telling y'all, this is nothing. Like after pulling it, pulling it about four years ago, this little strain. I mean, it hurts to walk sometimes, but it's getting better by the hour. So I know I'm good. This is nothing. This is nothing. So I'm about to ice it to lay down, get some rest for the night. Hope y'all do the same. Thank y'all for tuning in. Whether you're listening, whether you're watching, um, whichever one of you're doing, if you could do me a solid, especially well, if you're yeah, if you're listening, do me a favor and click one of the click the Google link, the forum link in the description to just give me some feedback on day by day podcasts. Let me know what you like, dislike, let me know what I can add, take away, just to make the experience better for you, the viewer, the listener. Because without y'all, this podcast literally be nothing but me talking to myself, which I do on a regular anyway. So I said, why not just make it a podcast? But anyway, good night, y'all. Make sure that y'all stay safe, stay sane, but most importantly, stay blessed. This is day by day, whether I not a why. Please don't ask why. We out this joint peace.
